November Newsletter 2015

Sandy Bears Mobile
Sandy Bears now has his very own mobile phone. This will be kept by management allowing us to text remind to parents (ie party days, sudden closure ect). It will be taken on all trips and outings so we are contactable by parents at all times. Parents can use this number to request additional days/ invoice info / report an absence or any other information you may want to send to us. The number of this phone is 07432653313. We are still available at any time via our email and our Facebook page ‘Sandy Bears Nursery & Pre-School’ and in working hours on 01829770889.
Outdoor Clothing
Now the weather is beginning to change we ask that parents provide children with a warm waterproof coat, a set of wellies and at least one change of clothes so we can still explore outside throughout the day. Naming clothes is also really helpful to staff! Thank You.
New Menus
We hope you have noticed all the new meals, puddings and snacks on our new autumn menu. They have been going down a storm and we are amending as we go to make sure they are perfect for all the children at Sandy Bears. If you have any feedback we would love to hear your thoughts!
Halloween Half Term
Everyone had SUCH a blast this half – term exploring everything from French lessons to tarantulas to apple bobbing! If you have any dates to book in over the Christmas Holidays please let Astone know J

Staff of the Term
We are delighted to announce our Staff Member of the Term is Gemma. Gemma always goes above and beyond for Sandy Bears and spends her free time doing all sorts of wonderful projects for both our rooms! Well done Gemma

Money Pots
Some of you will have already received your ‘Brown Penny Pots’ with a little explanation of what to do to raise money for our new climbing frame J Thank you to all people who have donated plastic lidded pots, please keep them coming as we have lots more families to send them out to!
Parents of all children will be receiving a report from your key worker week commencing 16th November. This is to keep you up to date formally on your child’s progress and to inform you of any ‘next steps’ your child is working towards. If you could add a comment and return to us (copies are available on request) Thank You!
Staff News
We would like to wish Sue a big good luck as she moves to her next placement setting. She has been a great asset to the team and we hope to see her again in the future!
As our numbers are increasing we will be hiring a new member of staff in the near future, we will keep you up to date in the next newsletter but in the meantime look out for any new faces!

2 Year Olds
Most of the parents will have seen our ‘2s area’ in the Big Bears room. This is working so well and is helping with transitions and developing key worker and peer bonds. To make this area even more familiar and cosy we would like to make Family Books! If you could provide us with some pictures of people who are important to your child we can make this into a personal book for them to look at whilst they are here! Please hand your pictures to any member of staff! Thanks in advance.
Bear Cubs
Our Bear Cubs room have had a lovely visit from Sandy Bears cousin Rufus Bear! He cant wait to start some adventures with our little bear cubs so look out for pictures of these – and maybe even a visit to your home too J
We now have a new planning system in place, we will be exploring a different ‘schema’ each week. You will all receive a sheet on schemas along with this newsletter, we are sure you will recognise some from your own child’s play. Our new planning is to support children’s different ways of learning and to encourage schemas. Please speak to any member of staff for more info.
