Welcome to Sandy Bears Forest School Saughall

 Our Forest Pre-school is from the ages of 2years old – 4 years. We are based in the outdoors as we believe “not all classrooms have 4 walls”. 

We have the Adventurers and Explorers who are provided with stage appropriate learning. However we see the benefits of a mixed range of ages learning together, these include the opportunity to learn empathy and acceptance and engage in different social interactions, older children learn to guide and support the younger children giving help when needed. Mixed ages let go of the pressures to conform to age related norms, so they can freely explore and show individual personalities without being put in a ‘bracket.’ Younger children extend their vocabulary as they socialise with the older age group through exploration, this also allows observations of older children with more complex activities and roleplay which enables the younger ones to widen their learning abilities.   

 It is essential that all children have access to outdoors, exploring their local surroundings and have access to physical development, learning new skills. 

At Sandy Bear’s we are very lucky to be in walking distance to many different places which encourage children’s physical development. We have a park nearby which children are able to practice their balance climbing and exploring risks, feeling the fresh air as they swing, laugh with excitement as they go down the slides and much more! Some children may not have access to parks where they live so Sandy Bears see the importance of every child having the same experiences through their childhood. We also have access to Saughall woods, which is an amazing area where the children have the space and freedom to explore, our bears also enjoy meeting the horses in the field along the way!
