LAURA YATES - OWNER

Laura has worked in Childcare for 15 years through pre-schools, nurseries, schools and Children Centres. She has a wealth of experience working with other professionals including health visitors, speech and language therapists and education specialists. 


In 2011 Laura took over Sandy Bears Tattenhall as Owner and since then has worked tirelessly to create an Outstanding Childcare setting (alongside having 2 children of her own!) 


Laura is thrilled to have expanded Sandy Bears to Cholmondeley where she can support a whole other network of families by creating another amazing provision. 


Laura works in the office focussing on all paperwork, parents queries and requests and staff’s continuing professional development. 


Laura is passionate about the settings ethos and is always available for parents and families.

ASTONE RICHARDSON – AREA MANAGER & FOREST SCHOOL TEACHER

Astone has worked in Early Years for 9 years and is committed to being at the forefront of research and development in this area. 


Astone began working at Sandy Bears in 2011 after completing her English Degree and subsequently trained for her Early Years Teacher Status. 


Astone has worked closely with Laura to gain their Outstanding Ofsted report in Tattenhall in 2016 and in 2018 Astone opened Cholmondeley with Laura and is now based between both Tattenhall and Cholmondeley settings. 


Astone works in the rooms and the office, supporting families and developing staff practice and running training sessions. 


Astone is our Forest School Teacher and provides children with these weekly sessions and implements the ethos to all practitioners for their day to day activities. 

Harriet Edwards – Manager & Panda Bears Room Leader

Harriet worked in children's entertainment before moving to Early Years 4 years ago. 


Harriet is a passionate practitioner who has recently completed her Level 4 in Leadership and Management. 


Harriet runs the setting on a day to day basis and also works as a Key Worker and Leader in the Panda Bears Room. 


Working in the room gives Harriet the chance to have contact with, and support all families and children in our setting whilst ensuring staff are supported in implementing our ethos. 

Amy Sides – Deputy Manager & Polar Bears Room Leader

Amy worked in a school for 9 years before moving to Sandy Bears to run our Rising 3s and Pre-School Room. 


Amy has a wealth of knowledge about Early Learning and is able to implement fantastic practice to ensure our little bears are ‘school ready’. 


Amy is also exploring Special Educational Needs courses with the support of the SENDCo to ensure all children in her room are fully supported when they are with us. 

Megan Matthias – Koala Bears Room Leader

Megan graduated from University with First Class Honours where she studied . 


Megan works as our Leader in the Koala Room and is passionate about implementing different theories and strategies to ensure our babies get the very best start in life. 


Megan also researches and implements new resources and activities to ensure the baby room is fun and stimulating for the Koalas. 

Samantha Protheroe – Panda Bears Early Years Educator

Sam has worked for Sandy Bears since completing her Teaching Degree in 2018. 


Sam is a Key Worker to a group of children in Pandas where she enjoys planning and executing individualised planning to meet all the little bears needs. 

Laura Wragg – Koala Bears Level 3 Early Years Educator

Laura is one of our Koala Bears practitioners and holds a Level 3 in childcare. She has 6 years experience working within baby rooms and with her own little boy too. 


Laura works for 30 hours a week as a Key Worker and works closely with the leader to create the perfect environment for our babies.

Louise Mitchell – Panda Bears – Early Years Teacher Status

Louise Mitchell holds an EYP status with numerous years of experience within early years, primary and secondary education after working at an international school. 


Louise is now a Key Worker to a group of children and supports 2 and 3 year old's in our setting with their development. 

Sindy Kapture – Apprentice Early Years Educator Level 3

Sindy joined the team after working in adult care for 4 years. She is looking forward to learning in our environment and completing her Level 3 over the next 12 months. 


Sindy will be coming a Key Worker with the support of her room leaders to further deepen her knowledge.
